Perils of the Trade -- Umpire Ken Burkhardt was in good position to view play as second base as Philadelphia's Tony Taylor steals second in game with San Francisco Giants today. Ball thrown by Giant's catcher Dick Dietz glanced off glove of second baseman Ron Hunt (33) and hit Burkhardt in the face. Other Giant player is Hal Lanier. The umpire left the game for a short while but returned.
