"Perfumed movies" For Cure Are Insane. Experiments in the use of music, colors and various perfumes in the treatment of mental cases at the Chicago State hospital for the insane or being conducted by Walter Spilkey, psychologist. The new equipment, different to the hospital by Samuel Insull, the Chicago utilities magnate, is known as the "colorama" and throws up on a screen in a darkened room a weaving of colored lights, all of which are the sign to supplement the effect of the music and scents. The new treatment is said to prove very beneficial in certain forms of insanity, especially "selected cases of melancholia and chronic depression."
