Offshore Structure to replace Lightship- This is the new offshore structure which will replace Buzzards Bay Lightship at the southern approach to Massachusetts' Cape Cod Canal. The station is nearly completed with the exception of the laying of extra planking to withstand the landing of helicopters, which will be accomplished by Nov. 1, when the structure will be placed in commission. The four main steel legs-with steel pipe cross bracing for added strength, have been driven and seated in bed rock in 61 feet of water.
