Mother, son found slain

Mrs. Anita Johnson, 35, and her college student son, Edward, 18, who were found in their Philadelphia apartment today, both shot to death. Police said they found a note, apparently written by the mother which said "this is a mercy killing. Edward used to be a sensible boy, now he's all mixed up." Detective Arthur Verbruggi said preliminary investigation indicated Mrs. Johnson killed her son, then took her own life.
