Scores of persons fled from their homes to the safety of this island lighthouse--Guardian of Atlantic shipping since 1778--When a nine foot tide swept the island last night. Heavy property damage was reported by the Coast Guard, but no loss of life. The island was said to have been battered too by the hurricane.
