Mother gets news of child's murder

Horror-stricken Mrs. Linda Glucroft is comforted by a neighbor a moment or two after she was told that her little daughter, Linda Joyce, 6, missing since yesterday, had been found murdered in the backyard of a house across the street. The child's body was badly mutilated. Beside it was an ax which, police believe, was used by the slayer. A manhunt has begin for Fred Stroubel, a 67-year-old man who had frequently been seen with Linda. Mrs. Glucroft described Stroubel as "sweet and kind" and said he liked to give Linda candy. She didn't know that Stroubel was arrested on a morals charge involving a 10-year-old girl last April.
