Peat Beds for Magnesium. These peat beds are on the grounds of the world's largest magnesium plant, Basic Magnesium, Inc., 15 miles from Las Vegas, Nev. Peat, one of the ingredients in the manufacture of the war-vital metal, is stored here until use. This peat comes from Canada, is highly inflammable and the beds are constantly watered as a precaution against fire. Located in a blistering southern Nevada desert, this gigantic plant already is producing magnesium and an equally vital chemical, liquid chlorine, on a huge scale.
