Monument to Adam. Chester, S.C. -- J. Foster Carter and the monument that he has erected to “Adam, The First Man”. As far as is known, this is the first monument that has been erected to Adam in the United States. Some years ago Robert Cuillan, writer, of Fountain Inn. S.C., erected a monument to Eve, and Mr. Carter thought that one should be erected to Adam. Mr. Carter placed the monument in his front yard near the highway.
