The Montelbaan tower, Amsterdam

A round tower with an octagonal upper storey, surmounted by a belfrey under repair, juts out into the water from a quay which is lined, beyond the tower, with trees. To left of the tower are houses. In the foreground are barges, one of which, to the right, lies against a pair of mooring-posts. The bulwark continued to the edge of the plate.
