One of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded in North America expended its terrible fury just ten years ago over an eight-state area near Yellowstone Park. As a result, buildings once above water-level now stand permanently inundated and desolate in the waters of Hebgen Dam (above). And a road which once ran through the Madison River Valley now crumbles to a watery end in a quake-dammed lake (below).
