(One Of A Set) – Immigrant Youngsters on Cyprus Smile. This group of smiling youngsters, including the youth second from left who was serious at the moment, typifies the young boys and girls on the Island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea. They are internees at the Caraolos Camp which can accommodate half of the 24,000 Jewish immigrants detained on the island by the British. Most of the young children and the aged have already been sent to Palestine because they are under separate quotas. Other internees now have new hopes since the British formally quit Palestine, ending the 31-year mandate. According to an announcement, May 14, by the Cyprus Government, two Jewish immigrant shops will be released to the Jewish agency, May 15, for use in shipping Jewish immigrants to Palestine.
