Steinlen, Théophile Alexandre, 1859-1923 · December 21, 1898
In a courtroom of the Palais de Justice, an old man painfully leans on two canes, with his hat in hand, and supported by his daughter in deep mourning. He listens to law that a majestic and important lawyer reads to him. Hidden behind the lawyer is a Jew listening and searching the inside of his coat pocket with his left hand. Published in La Feuille, 1898.
