Watkins, Carleton E., 1829-1916 · 1865–1866
From catalogue raisonné: The Royal Arches are a relief feature located 1.61km (1 mile)... and Washington Column (also known as Washington Tower) is a relief feature located 2.41 km (1 1/2 miles) east of present-day Yosemite Village on the north side of Yosemite Valley. This view is made looking northeast form a position east of present-day Sugar Pine Bridge. This view represents a return to the site of an earlier picture (see cat. no. 228) Watkins was able to position his camera so to incorporate the group of conifers on the right edge to almost the same way in both pictures.
