Beneath the shadows of Klingsor's enchanted gardens, Parsifal, bareheaded and wearing a short tunic, advances with a rapid step. The flower maidens surround him and walk with him, trying to hold him back. One, on the right, tells him persuasive words. Another, on the left, touches the folds of drapery which cross before his throat. She herself is restrained by a third whose hand is on his arm. Behind, appear several young faces of their companions. (Wagner, Parsifal, act II)
