New York -- Awaiting Job Calls -- Unemployed seamen gather in front of the desk of Deck Dispatcher John Robinson in the national Maritime Union's hiring hall in New York, but the available jobs are few. The seamen are part of the 5,000 idled in the port of New York by the 27-day-old longshoremen's strike. Some of them are members of crews of foreign vessels stranded 4,000 miles from home.
