Gallery›Digital Commonwealth — Boston Public Library›New Vacuum Furnace Unveiled The new NRC Model 2909 30-pound induction vacuum furnace was shown on October 6th during the recent 106th meeting of The Electrochemical Society in Boston. Approximately 60 members attending the meeting were guests at the Newton Highlands plant of Naresco Corporation, equipment sales subsidiary of National Research Corporation, for a showing of this new furnace. During their visit the new furnace melted steel in a virtual absence of air or other gases to produce an ingot of gas-free metal. Shown here are a few of the visitors inspecting the furnace after the melting demonstration.
