New Safety Glasses Developed The newest thing in safety spectacles for participants in body-contact sports has been developed by the American Optical Co. here. The glasses, designed specifically for athletes, combine protection with rugged construction. They feature special contoured lenses to fit the face and streamlined ends to protect other players from gashes. A large, shock absorbent rubber nosepiece protects the bridge of the nose. The lenses are held firmly in place by means of unusually deep channels in the frame. The glasses are obtainable through eye care professions with either tempered glass or a new plastic lens material whose weight is half that of glass.
