New Orleans: Tropical storm “Hilda,” apparently growing to hurricane force, moved to within 450 miles South of Mobile, Ala., by 6 A.M. EDT and was packing winds of 65 miles per hour. The eighth tropical storm of the season was moving North-west at 14 mph and appeared to be closely following the course used by hurricane Carla which struck in Sept. 1961.
