This beautiful church is the first church in Jamaica. Built on the site of the original church founded by Christopher Columbus in 1509. Harvard Columbus expedition, under direction of Prof. Samuel Eliot Morison, visited this spot in 1940 and confirmed the location.

After the Flood comes cleanup. A road grader piles up dirt on Lowell St., across from City Hall, after rushing waters in Peabody square subsided yesterday. Then began cellar pumping-out operations and more water in streets. Officials said a record 5.74 inch rainfall was responsible for the high water.
