[ca. 1960–1979]
This impressive shrine is built in the form of a Latin cross. Contemporary in style, yet with strong classical influences, it harmonizes perfectly with other beautiful buildings in the nation's capital. It is built entirely of stone, brick, tile and concentrate. There is no steel skeleton or framework in its construction. This was the method used in medieval cathedrals. Guided tours which take approximately 45 minutes start every half hour. The Shrine is open to visitors every day of the week, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
