"In the nation's capital." The National Presbyterian Church and Center is unique among churches of the denomination. Its beginning goes back to worship in a carpenter shop on the grounds where the White House was being constructed in 1795, and resulted from the merger of two historic congregations, the First Presbyterian Church in the District of Columbia and the Church of the Covenant. Guided tours may be taken daily from 10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.
