Mrs. Ruth Bates Harris, highest ranking woman in the national aeronautics and space administration, has been fired after criticizing the agency's equal employment program, according to a N.A.S.A. official. Mrs. Harris is shown being sworn in as director of Equal Employment Opportunity in 1971.
