Museum Gives Award of Merit to Ice Follies. For the first time in its history the New York Museum of Science and Industry has made a special award of merit to an organization in the amusement industry. Coincident with the Ice Follies engagement in Madison Square Garden the award was made to Eddie and Roy Shipstad and Oscar Johnson by Robert P. Shaw, museum director, (shown left to right above). The inscription on the award read: “In recognition of their outstanding achievement in developing a new pattern of theatrical presentation as exemplified by the production of their Ice Follies.” Award by the museum are limited to less than 20 annually and ordinarily go to outstanding figures in science and industry. The award will be supplemented by a permanent exhibit in the museum located in Rockefeller Center, depicting the creation development of the Ice Follies.
