Mayor Kevin White of Boston, with broom in hand, kicks off the city's "Clean Sweep" program (4/25) as hundreds of volunteers, mostly young, cleaned an area in downtown Boston. Mayor White said "it would cost two million dollars just to put the Boston Common and Public Gardens back into shape...and that's 10 times the budget (for cleanup operations) we have this year for the whole city of Boston.
