Mishaps Mar Auto Races. A tire blowout is blamed for the crash shown here of Gordon Cleveland of Phoenix, Ariz., when his car splintered the track railing and careened down za siding by the edge of the track. Cleveland escaped, miraculously, with only minor injuries. A 16 year old spectator who stood beside the wreckage a couple of minutes later was instantly killed by another car hurling through the same spot.
