On November 11th, 1620, the "MAYFLOWER" dropped anchor in Provincetown Harbor, and here in the cabin of their good ship, was drawn up that memorable "Compact of the Government", the first charter of a democratic government in the world's history. Forty days later this heroic band of hearty pilgrims weighed anchor and sailed across the bay to find their settlement which thy called PLYMOUTH.
