May Succeed Romney - Roy Abernathy (above), a dynamic, fast-talking, cigar-chomping sales executive, is the man considered the most likely to succeed George Romney as head of American Motors Corp. Abernathy is one of three executive vice presidents of American Motors and since November has been general manager. Romney will take a leave of absence to seek the Republican nomination for Governor of Michigan.
