Mrs. Landy tells of Communist activities

Washington, D.C. Mrs. Deborah Landy, of Bradley beach, N.J., whose son was denied a navy reserve commission because she was once a communist, is shown after she testified before the house unamerican activities committee in closed session today. Mrs. Landy said her appearance before the committee was "like going to the dentist---you dread it before you get there. but after you get there, you find it's not so bad." She told the committee how she helped "communize" farm workers in New Jersey. Mrs. Landy said she was assured that her appearance before the House group would in no way affect the military status of he son, Eugene Landy, 21, who was graduated from the Kings Point (Long Island) Maritime Academy only to be refused a commission because of his mother's past affiliations.
