Miami: Hurricane Betsy, which threatens the Eastern seaboard as far north as New Jersey, remained stationary in the Atlantic 9/5 and lashed the coastline of the Carolinas with 10-foot waves. The Miami weather bureau, in a noon EDT advisory, said the hurricane was 335 miles due east of new Smyrna Beach, Fla., and 440 miles south of Cape Hatteras off the North Carolina coast.
