Memorial fountain in square, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania
[ca. 1960–1979]
The fountain was originally a prize winning French exhibit at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876. It was later bought by the town as a soldier's memorial. In th square where the fountain is installed General Robert E. Lee met with his staff and General A. P. Hill and on that spot made his fateful decision to march on Gettysburg.
