Melanie Cain, 23, (L) appears in a New York police station as Howard (Buddy) Jacobson, 48, (R) is brought in for booking in connection with the love-triangle murder of John Topper, who lived next door to Jacobson's apartment at 155 E. 84th St. Jacobson, onetime highly successful but controversial thoroughbred racing trainer, had shared his lavish apartment with Ms. Cain, a top fashion model, for five years. She moved in with Topper about a week ago.
