Crews optimistically load one of 27 helicopters at Stead Air Force Base, hoping to fly to Klamath Falls, Ore., to assist in flood relief. The 'copters, with 100 men, were to do rescue work and provide supplies to stranded flood victims, but bad weather prevented takeoff.
