Luscious Margaret Decker tastes the winning drink, the "Cardinal," originated by Joseph Heffernan, New York bartender, whose drink was chosen Grand National Champion in the Fourth Annual National Mixed Drink Competition held at the Park Lane Hotel in New York Tuesday (Dec. 8). His drink was chosen winner by some 40 judges from among more than 3,000 original mixed drinks submitted in the nation-wide talent hunt conducted among the nation's bartenders each year by the Early Times Distillery Co., Louisville, Ky., and the American Society of Bar Masters.
