In the middle of the composition, the Muse, seen in profile, raises a garland of foliage with both hands and presents it at the monument of Brahms. On the right, Fame, a flying figure, holds her trumpet with one hand and with her other hand she holds out a palm for the Muse. Lower down, on the same side, Music cries on his lyre. On the left, smoke rises from a perfume burner.
