Helmuth Mainardy, 19, and his father, west German NATO aide Capt. George Mainardy, are shown together (right photo) in Brooklyn court 12/27, where the youth was charged with attempted rape. police said the boy attacked Mrs. Joan Sendel, 35, shown in left photo with her husband, Ptl. earl Sendel. Mainardy, who denied the charges placed against him, was paroled in his father's custody for a hearing on 1/6. Capt. Mainardy is a NATO military attache stationed in Washington. it was not known whether the young Mainardy can plead diplomatic immunity in view of his father's Washington post.
