Plate 142 from the 63rd issue of the 1912-14 printing of the Journal des Dames et des Modes. Copper plate engraving and pochoir (stencil) on paper. Manon was the protagonist of a popular French opera by Jules Massenet, based on a 1731 novel by Abbé Prévost. The historic costume is paired with a wig in the style of Marie-Antoinette and mask.
