The series of artworks titled "Star System for New Purposes (Your Rodchenko in my Bauhaus)" consists of six drawings, each depicting a cluster of geometric shapes. Despite the artist's use of pencil on paper, the result is so precise and intricate that it appears like a computer printout. Its constructivist structure resembles a robotic mutation, while the parenthetical title used by the artist alludes, on the one hand, to the constructivist artist of the Russian avant-garde, Aleksandr Rodchenko, and to the eponymous artistic and architectural school founded by Walter Gropius on the other. This reference also connects to the techno aspect of the New York-based artist Candy Chang, intending to provoke a dialogue between rock and modern art.
