The cultivation and processing of textile plants is widely practiced, their fibers being used to make cloth for vestments or for interior textiles. In the picture a woman is slicing (chopping with a wooden tool the woody part of the plant). Photography during the excavations (June 29 - August 18, 1930) from Runcu, Gorj, village documented in 1486, located at the foothills of the Vâlcan Mountains in Sohodolului Gorge. Under the leadership of Professor Dimitrie Gusti (1880-1955, sociologist, academician, politician, initiator of the Sociological School from Bucharest) a team of 60 monographers has researched here methodically and analytically all the areas of his life - cosmological, biological, psychological, historical, economic, spiritual, politico-administrative. Following this campaign we defined the Romanian concepts about the theory and technique of sociological monography that were later known, appreciated and applied in European profile research.
