Maple Sugar Harvesting Time-- The Bosse brothers, Charles (left) and Dick driving tractor hauling pung, approach the 'Sugar House' on the farm of Charles Bacon at Jaffrey, New Hampshire with a load of maple sugar. Following tradition copied form the Indians, New England farmers find maple sugaring a profitable business in an otherwise slack season on the farm. About thirty gallons of the sweet liquid from the tree makes a gallon of syrup when boiled down and the market price this year is around six dollars a gallon.
