Near the intersection of Broadway and Madison Avenue, New York, an immense excavation has been made for the foundations of a new building; its walls are shored up, and a tall crane rises from a platform near the bottom of the pit. Much detail inserted. The crane and shores holding up the walls of the excavated area are approximately complete, except on the left, but the buildings across the two intersecting streets are still in outline.
