Near the intersection of Broadway and Madison Avenue, New York, an immense excavation has been made for the foundations of a new building; its walls are shored up, and a tall crane rises from a platform near the bottom of the pit. Horizontal shading added on front of house to right, chiefly to the left behind the highest portions of the crane.
