Legros, Alphonse, 1837-1911 · [ca. 1854–1911]
The horse-gin is turned by a horse with white hair; the pulley sheltered by a sort of pent-roof connecting with a stone-edged well, near which three monks stand; one fills a watering-pot that the other holds; the third reads. With the work which continues the house under the pent-roof to the upper right corner, and with the signature "A. Legros" in the lower left corner. Additional lines in foreground, between the horses hind legs.
