Maine Tuna Tourney Breaks All American Record. Eight giant tuna ranging from 470 to 609 pounds were landed on the second day of Maine's Fish Annual Tuna Tournament at Bailey Island to break all American and Canadian tournament records. In addition to this nine fish were officially lost by the 19 boats in competition. In the first two days of the tournament 14 fish have been landed for a total weight of 7459 pounds. Henry Strater, Maine's ace angler is out in front with five fish. On Wednesday he took three weighing 609 - 576 - 527. Above photo shows today catch hanging up with sea and shore fisheries wardens Elmore Wallace and James Thurston inspecting them. Most of the fleet is fishing within eight miles of the port and east of Lambo Ledge in Casco Bay.
