Lucian S. Adams, representative for the veterans administration has met veterans who thought he poorly understood their problems. Either they though he was a civilian who had never been in the armed forces or that he could not understand what they as combat had been through. Adams said "When this has happened, I have given them a little article I had kept". This article tells of his winning the Congressional Medal of Honor. He said he does not have any respect for the draft card burners and shirkers. "Their actions are not patriotic and I don't think anybody who has been on actual duty can have any respect for anybody who does anything like that".
