A Leper Picks Fruit. Shown picking fruit from the Chaulmoogra oil, or hydnocarpus trees is this leper, native of Africa's Belgian Congo. The lepers tended the trees for five years before they bore the first fruit which is brown hard-shelled, fuzzy and about the size of a grapefruit. Chaulmoogra oil is the principal medicine used in the direct treatment of leprosy.
