Fantin-Latour, Henri, 1836-1904 · 1888
The harp is suspended on the branches of a bushy tree with a visible trunk on the right. There is an apparition of a young woman who plays the harp with both her hands. Her head, her bare chest and a little of the drapery on which she sits, are visible. The rest of her is hidden behind the figure of Lelio (Berlioz). He sits in profile in the foreground, on a slope of land. He is dressed in black and his cheek rests on his right hand. He is absorbed in his reverie.
