Chicago, April 12-- A call to the sheriff's office in Albuquerque, N.M., by Beatrice crowder, above, switchboard operator for Greyhound bus lines in downtown Chicago, today was credited with saving the lives of two young sisters. "I've got the gas on now," the man on the phone said. "When my wife gets to Chicago tell her I'm dead and so are our little girls." Tracing the call, deputies sped to the home in time to rescue Billie, 9, and Phyllis, 12, from gas pouring into their bedroom. The father, James Lee, 33, was found asleep in the garage, away from danger. He has been booked on investigation of attempted murder.
