Lansing, Mich. Picket Demonstration – Obeying orders of Fisher Local No. 602 president George J. Smith, Fisher Body Lansing plant workers marched for an hour in front of the strike-bound factory Friday morning before reporting to their union hall to sign up for picket duty. Union members walked out when the U.A.W. and General Motors failed to reach agreement on a new contract by the 10 a.m. union deadline.
