Local Boy Becomes First Prime Minister. Mr. Grantley H. Adams, a West Indian of African descent, has become the first Prime Minister of Barbados. Leader of the local labor party which currently commands a majority in the House of Assembly, he is a Queen's Counsel - a lawyer - and a graduate of Oxford University, England.
