A modern Gothic church with a square tower stands on a hill In the distance. The street that leads towards it slopes down to a point at which it curves round to the right beneath the church. The sky is darkened with rain clouds. Hills are drawn in behind the church, and a tall chimney rises from behind the houses on the right, pouring out smoke to the left over the pinnacles of the church tower. The front of the house next the edge of the plate has been partially darkened again.
